House in Lymington

The clients approached Alastair Thomas Studio to design a new kitchen and bathroom extension to their Victorian home in Lymington, to include a covered external seating area to the rear.

The extension is expressed as a simple timber volume, offering a quiet contemporary contrast to the existing brickwork. Incorporating a timber canopy forms a covered outdoor seating area, topped with a transparent roof that provides shelter while maintaining daylight and open views. From inside the kitchen, sightlines extend through to this external space and into the garden.
